Indiana’s Scholarship Granting Organization
Indiana offers a variety of scholarship opportunities designed to make a high-quality education accessible to every Hoosier student. In addition to the Choice Scholarship (voucher), Education Scholarship Account (ESA), and Career Scholarship Account (CSA), Indiana is home to two other scholarships that offer students an opportunity for success while giving donors a tax benefit.
As the state’s first and largest Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), the Institute for Quality Education (IQE) is backed by nearly 30 years of proven success. As an SGO, IQE administers two key programs the Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship (State SGO) and the Education Freedom Tax Credit Scholarship (EFTC).

Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship (State SGO)
- Created in 2009.
- Funding comes from private donations made by individuals and businesses and distributed as scholarships.
- Those who donate receive a 50% state tax credit.
- Scholarships can cover tuition and fees at participating private schools.
- For students attending a participating private school.
Education Freedom Tax Credit Scholarship (EFTC)
- Launches January 1, 2027.
- Funding comes from private donations made by individuals and distributed as scholarships.
- Those who donate receive a 100% federal tax credit.
- Scholarships can cover tuition and fees, transportation, tutoring, and education materials.
- For students attending a traditional public, public charter, private, or homeschool.
