Student Eligibility
Because Indiana has opted into this federal initiative, the EFTC is available to students attending any school type—traditional public, public charter, private, or homeschool.
To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Live in a household with an income at or below 300% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- K-12 student currently living in Indiana; 5-22 years old
Note on Program Status: As this is a new federal initiative, we are currently awaiting final guidance from the U.S. Treasury, which is expected in Fall 2026.

Applying for EFTC
You will need to submit the following documents to be considered for an EFTC scholarship:
- Proof of Income, such as a 1040 or W-2 for each member of the household
- Proof of Residency
- Birth Certificate
If you will be using EFTC for special education service expense(s), submit a completed copy of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), Service Plan (SP), 504 Plan, Choice Service Plan, or ESA Service Plan.
Services Provided
Indiana families can utilize EFTC dollars to truly customize their child’s education. Scholarships may help cover a wide range of education expenses, such as:
- Private school tuition and fees, room/board, and uniforms
- Books, instructional materials, and technology
- Tutoring
- Transportation
- Supplementary items and services
- Services of students with disabilities

EFTC Scholarship Basics
Awards vary and are determined by the Scholarship Granting Organization’s available funds and donor preferences.
No. Donors are not able to select a particular student to receive their scholarship.
However, donors may direct their donation toward a specific school or type of expense, such as tutoring, before- and after-school care programs, or the area of greatest student need.
Applying for EFTC
You will need to submit the following documents to be considered for an EFTC scholarship:

If you will be using EFTC funds for special education service expenses, you should also submit a completed copy of one of the following:

Yes. EFTC scholarships may be used in addition to the Choice Scholarship, Education Scholarship Account (ESA), Career Scholarship Account (CSA), and the Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship/State SGO.
Yes. Homeschool students are eligible to apply for scholarships if they meet the program eligibility requirements. Accepting a scholarship does not impact a student’s homeschool status.
